About Alison

blog078

I, Alison, have been photographing weddings since December of 1999.

It began with a friend’s wedding out of state. They told me that they printed my pictures instead of the professional photographers. I thought, “hmmm…I can do this wedding photography thing…” and I started.

After earning my BS in Art Education at Northwestern College, I worked with Kelly Brown Weddings and taught elementary and middle school art.

In 2005, I taught full-time, got married and photographed 35 weddings. Crazy, right?

Something had to give.

Photography became my full-time job.

Besides photographing weddings, I volunteer with Make-a-Wish MN, New Life Family Services, and Hope Chest for Breast Cancer. In addition to working with organizations, I like to work directly with families. I have photographed almost half a dozen families who have a family member with a terminal illness. This is a passion of mine. The families have let me into their lives and I am able to capture their relationships. No posing or “turn and smile.” If you know of someone who would like this type of memoir, please contact me at alison@alisonleaphotography.com. I will be honored to do it.

I LOVE photography and even more than that, I love building relationships  with my clients.

My last little thing:

I have the most wonderful husband and a beautiful little girl, who was born in November 2008. Every day, I am reminded that God is faithful. I am so blessed.
