Lacy, Aaron & Elias

I am IN LOVE with this picture of Elias!

Lacy and I met in 2001 at Disney World where we worked and lived together. Yup, if you didn’t already know it, I worked for WDW. We really got lucky with our roommates. I still keep in touch with a few of them and Lacy brought her family to visit.

Lacy and I were the “Disney-crazy” pair. We would head over to MGM (now Hollywood) Studios just to use a fast pass and go on the Rockin’ Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror. Then, we’d come home. It took about an hour usually to get there, ride and get home. Those are probably my favorite Disney Program memories! Lacy and Aaron told me the story of the meaning behind their son’s name. People often asked Lacy if she’d name her children after Disney characters and she would laugh it off. But, when they found out they were having a boy, she joked with Aaron that they should name him Walt.

Later, they found out that Walt’s middle name was Elias. Both Lacy and Aaron really loved the name…so, although it may not be completely intention, this proves that Disney never gets out of your blood.

Elias is just a month older than Brenna, my daughter. He’s such a happy boy.

Of course, I had to take some pictures of Elias and Brenna together. Hopefully, next time we see these guys, the kids will still be young and play nicely together.

When they told me they were driving up from Colorado, I was excited to spend the day with them. But, of course, we had to do a photo shoot!

And remember…it all started with a Mouse.

Lacy, I loved seeing you and meeting your boys. What a blessing it is that we can see each other after 8 years and pick up where we left off.

Maybe next time, we’ll see you on your home turf. We love Colorado!

Katrina & Kellen – June 13, 2009

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

What perfect weather for a wedding! Katrina and Kellen had the day that every June couple is hoping for. It was amazing.

blogss.-11

Katrina got ready at her parents’ home. This makes for some of the best pictures because it’s so personal. Kendra, my associate photographer, and I had a ball taking these romantic and dramatic shots of Katie before leaving to meet Kellen for the first time.

blogss.-12

blogss.-13I can’t say it enough…I love REAL expressions! Sometimes it can feel so awkward to have a camera in your face, but we had so much fun, I think they forgot the camera was there. Kendra and I were able to capture these two as they are.

Katrina and Kellen planned their wedding from out of state, so we hadn’t met in person until a few weeks before the event. Everything went smoothly the day of the wedding. We finished group photos early and the ceremony was beautiful! They had a great kiss at the end.

After the ceremony, we headed to downtown Excelsior and found this ice cream shop. Such a bright, bold sign. Then, we hit up a dry cleaner shop…we didn’t actually go in, but, the wall was really bright and funky. This 15 minute stop was worth it!

My favorite picture from when Darrin and I got married is one of us reacting to the toasts, so at weddings, I spend a lot of time taking those pictures. REAL expressions and REAL reactions to family and friends.

My other favorite time is the couple’s first dance…especially when they sing along with the song and laugh with one another. There is so much emotion and I love this picture because you can see Kellen’s love for Katie.

Katie and Kellen,

Thank you for inviting us to be a part of your amazing day. When you look at your wedding pictures, my hope is that you are brought back to the love and emotion of the day for years to come.

Sarah & Shane – June 6, 2009

Sarah & Shane,

First, I need to apologize for the delay on getting your blog up. You will soon find out the reason why it took so long…

Because I LOVED so many of your photos and I could hardly narrow it down to these ones! There are many more to come, but here’s a sneak peek.

ss.-30

Here is Sarah getting ready. The bride’s room at the church was beautiful. Sarah’s aunt surprised her with a garter. So cute!

I have to admit that I was teary-eyed, when Sarah and Shane saw each other for the first time. They are so sweet and kind to one another. It was absolutely beautiful.

These two are just stunning!

Even when my bride’s don’t wear their veils in front of their faces during the ceremony, I love to photograph them this way. Sarah had many different expressions and all were equally beautiful. (Especially the ones with her genuinely HUGE smile! I love those!)

The smile on Shane’s face says it all!

This is the first wedding that I have ever photographed where it rained the ENTIRE DAY! Sarah & Shane were so positive about it. During their toast, Sarah said something like this…”We’ve been praying for rain because we need it so badly, we just didn’t expect that it would be today. Sometimes God answers prayers in ways we would never expect.”

What an amazing attitude.

All day, I was saying “act causual” or “just ignore me” and here is what casual looks like.

Toasts, cake-cutting and then the PARTY! What a fun night!

So, Sarah & Shane, I am sorry that it took me so long to blog. I hope it was worth it when you saw this handful of pictures.

We really enjoyed spending the day with you and wish you all the best!
